| Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a comprehensive, multistage and destination based indirect tax imposed on the supply of goods and services across all States of India (except to the State of Jammu and Kashmir). Comprehensive as all major indirect taxes are clubbed into one. Multi-staged as it is levied at all stages right from manufacture up to final consumption, however credit of taxes paid at previous stages available as setoff.
